Tony Spivey Tony Spivey

Archive

Tony Spivey died on April 18, 2004. Those of us who knew him will bear the sadness in our hearts forever. We miss you Tony, and we miss all the beautiful and eloquent poetry you had still to write.

Originally from Dublin, Georgia, Tony settled in North Carolina after retiring from the United States Marine Corps.

It was while completing his teaching degree at East Carolina University that he began to write poetry, plays and essays.

His poems have been published in numerous anthologies and literary journals.

In 1996, his play, A Civil Outpost, was published and produced by John Taylor’s TSP Productions and enjoyed a summer run at junior colleges in eastern North Carolina. This small success led to numerous engagements for poetry readings, as far away as California.

If you enjoy reading Tony’s work, you may order his first published collection in paperback. Check here for details.
