I am a
50’sh single mom living in Kansas City, Missouri with my soon to be 2-year-old pound puppy, Samantha.
I’ve been writing ever since I can remember, but only began
taking it seriously about seven years ago. I also began college studies at same time
and absolutely love it. I have completed 21 credit hours with a GPA of 3.8, and
still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.
I love writing
poetry and prose. Most of what I write is based on my own life experiences and observations. I am told that my
thought processes are quite unusual (take that however you want), I choose to smile
about it!
I have been privileged to be published several times both on the internet and in
hard copy. I am Managing Editor for Poetic Voice, an affiliate of Poetry Today
Online, and am also editor of a homeless newsletter for an organization in the city where I live. We
will soon be going cyber. I am most anxious to see how this works out.
As far as my personal journey, I hope to self-publish my first chapbook of poetry
sometime in the fall. Right now I am learning the various graphics programs,
publishing
do’s and don’ts, and HTML coding.
As with any other poet, I am delighted when
the words come. It’s amazing how many times I’ve grabbed a pen and pad during the
middle of the night to capture those stray thoughts that don’t seem to want to come
during normal waking hours.
Some of my favorite writer’s are Maya Angelou,
Rod McKuen and Janet Kuypers, whose work I accidentally ran across in my beginning stages of internet exploration.
One of the most important things I have learned since
I started writing, is to be true to yourself. There are so many wonderful poets and writing styles, but I am the only
one who writes like me!
