Heart, Mind and Soul
Lying on the altar
Rejected offerings
In a forsaken shrine.

Heart – Tremulous bud
     Plucked too soon
     Fated to wither
     Before its full bloom

Mind – The fruit of Intellect
     Picked raw, soured by haste
     Embittered by regret
     Lost promise of ripe sweetness

Soul – A lamp burning out
     In fuel-less despair
     A losing battle with Darkness
     Light fading into eternal night

Offerings to an idol of stone
That neither sees, nor knows
Offerings of blind Love and Faith
Of foolish devotion, lying unheeded
Wasted offerings
To a faithless deity
