I started writing poetry in 1997. It is difficult to explain what
motivates me to write. Ideas just pop into my head and I can’t
rest until they live on paper. I consider poetry my healthy obsession,
not that I have any unhealthy ones.
In June, 2000, I received The Ronnie Lee Crooms Memorial Medal for
Poetic Excellence, from Spiveyland. This award meant more to me than
any other award I might have received because it was awarded by Tony
Tony Spivey, a Webstatic poet I truly admired.
For the past several years I have occupied my time co-designing and
maintaining Internet sites with my father. Some of the better known sites
are Doctor Leon,
Show the World,
our favorite jewel Webstatic, Iriswhite
Publishing, and our most recent project, Ty Collector.
Now, 29 years after my premature entry into the world, I have earned a BS in Psychology
from the University of Maryland; manage a book publishing company (Iriswhite
Publishing); and hold firmly to the belief that my journey in life is just beginning.
