Visit Me In Dreams
|
|
|
How will I bear it all
this ceremony called
sending you away?
The goodbyes, flowers
songs and friends
seeing your name
carved in stone?
Alone now I stand
you no longer by my side
that part of me is gone forever
that sweetness that nourished me
that comfort you gave so tenderly
only memories of it is left to remind me
that once I had it true and faithful
once I was a treasured spouse
half of a whole that was one.
Once love held me and my children
in arms strong and tender
and sang songs in a baritone voice
once love stared at me making
stardust in our eyes
we sprinkled it generously
throughout each others lives
leaving traces as we went.
I go alone now
stardust dimmed
and rockets quieted
never to shower sparks of love again
but the memories of you
will grow old with me
so old well both wither with time
never forgetting the enchanted days
the days that you were mine.
Visit me in dreams love
Oh, visit me in dreams
and there
in midnights yearnings
sprinkle your stardust
in my dreams
till we meet again . . .
