Tempus Fugit

Tomorrow’s when I know I could,
Do all the things I said I would.
Like climb a mountain, run a mile,
Fly in Concord, dress in style.

Tomorrow I could have a fling
At painting, writing, anything
To leave my mark on history,
So others will remember me.

Tomorrow I could tour the world
And see it’s wondrous things unfurled.
Tomorrow I could simply laze,
Read “War and Peace” or Shakespeare’s plays.

There always seemed to be the time,
To realize these dreams of mine.
To do the things I said I would,
To do the things I know I could.

But days went by and I grew old,
The skein of life did then unfold.
And Father Time just didn’t care,
Tomorrow came. I wasn’t there.
