Love is a Subject |
|
Love is a
subject as worn as old shoes,
Threadbare and shabby with many a thought,
Tattered and traveled with clichés and clues,
Crafted and cobbled; abandoned and sought.
Love is a subject as fresh as ripe fruit,
Pulpy and cool underneath the tight skin,
Plump with a newness rising from the root,
As loose and luscious as succulent sin.
Love is a subject as closed as a book,
That sits on my shelf alone and unread,
Silent and bound by refusing to look,
A sharp silver needle without a thread.
Love is a subject that never runs dry,
Fed by the river of wondering why.
