Don’t Look Out
From deep within I look for me.
As if a breeze I am upon the sea.
A whisper away from the writhing landscape,
flashing lights, concrete and cacophony.
The illusion on sale everywhere making a racket.
Drowning out the sound of the silence of my soul.
And I forget who I am for a moment.
Then back to the sea.
The farther away I imagine my truth to be,
the nearer it becomes,
the easier to see.
I cannot find out what is within.
